Gestalt is a fascinating approach to therapy with many unique techniques, interventions and goals that set it apart from other approaches. Self-acceptance, knowledge of the environment, responsibility for choices, and the ability to make contact...are important awareness processes and goals, all of which are based on a here-and-now experiencing that is always changing (Corey, 2009, p. 200). Fritz Perls demonstrates his Gestalt therapy style in Three Approaches to Psychotherapy: A Film Series (1975). Though this film has made a significant impact in the field of psychological education, many simply remember Fritz Perls as a brash and cocky showman. This is unfortunate as he has left very meaningful contributions to the field of†¦show more content†¦At yet another point, as he points out to Gloria, many of his statements have a neutral charge but are given a negative charge through Glorias transferential perception. For example, Perls asks Gloria what her foot was doing and Gloria perceives it as a negative judgment on Perlss part and a demand that she explain why she is wiggling her foot. As perls explains to Gloria That is the Fritz of your imagination (1975). This interaction between the therapist and client led to a significant intervention. When Perls asks Gloria what her foot is doing she laughs quite a bit and says that shes afraid that hes going to n otice everything that she does. Perls intervenes by pointing out that Gloria is laughing (which is incongruent with what she is saying and feeling). These and many other behaviors lead Perls to confront Gloria by calling her a phony. It is at this point that Gloria expresses her feelings in a genuine way. She expresses verbally that she is angry and she behaves as though she is angry. This is the first time during the session that her affect is congruent with her mood. This is a perfect example of what Corey meant when he wrote [Perls] was a master at intentionally frustrating clients to enhance their awareness (2009, p. 200). This was Perlss way of reaching for feelings. He is almost pushing Gloria into contact with her real feelings. He provokes her anger in the here-and-now and as a result she has an opportunity to

My Opinion On Adolescent Stage And Its Impact And Discuss...

My interviewee, Christian, is a 16-year-old teenager. I chose to interview Christian because he is compassionate and friendly. He seemed like a perfect candidate for this interview. He was born in another state but was raised in Las Vegas. He is currently in school (like most teenagers his age). In this interview, I discuss the adolescent stage and its impact and discuss the interviewee’s life as an adolescent. His answer to the first question was interesting to hear. He answered, ‘’the best time of life, in my opinion, is childhood. I have many good memories when I was a child, and wish that I could relive those moments. You do not have anything to worry about, you just enjoy everything about life.’’ It seems that Christian had a good†¦show more content†¦But as children get older, they don’t spend as much time with their family. There is a conflict between parents and their children as they grow older, and once children enter puberty, they seem to drift apart from family. Adolescents develop a new sense of image; they want to be treated as adults, and their â€Å"new powers of reasoning† (Berk, 2014) influence the way they think. (p.294) Therefore, these developments can create tension in families; it can persist for some time. In addition, the conflict can be more challenging with girls than boys since parents are stricter with girls. May be this is why my interviewee is not as rebellious as other teens. Christian, spends a lot of time with his family, and considers the relationship with his parents, brother, and sister the most important. He described his relationship with his family as ‘’special’’ and believes his family keeps him grounded. He seems to have a good relationship with his parents and siblings, which I think is a good thing. As I mentioned before, having a good relationship with family members can influence adolescents in a positive way. Families would have feelings of shame and guilt giving birth to a child with a disability. Society viewed a child with a disability a personal tragedy and it was left to the families to cope. Overview of a School Concert Essay MCA concert 2014 took place in AATF Sports Complex. The concert started by 5:00 pm and first off was the preschool students and elementary students. Everyone was entertained to see such enthusiastic and energetic performances from these little kids who poured their hearts out in performing. Some Performances was also joined by some teachers, who were directing the little children in front of the stage. It was truly amusing to see these students dance without any trace of nervousness and be nonchalant and so happy. Adding up to this radiant atmosphere are the parents whose showing full support on their kids and are very near to the stage making sure to take good videos and photos and that their son/daughter can see and her them cheer. The preschool and elementary students was followed through by the high school students who worked very hard for this day. There were a total of 27 sections in the high school department to perform but no one dared to miss even just a part of it. The performance of the high school department was opened by the fourth year excellence. Every performance enthralled the judges and the audience. Each performance reflected the effort given by each student. Each section gave everything for a pleasurable and gratifying and to make a great sale of tickets. Every section may only be given few minutes but each performance holds so much, as if you’ll see their hard work given during their practices and it showed everything they did to give praise through their performance. Their entire endeavor was not wasted though, and was recognized after the concert. Awards were given to the best performances each year level which was received by Grade 7 Contentment, Grade 8 Sympathy, Grade 9 Justice and 4th year Excellence. Also charity award was given to those who donated for our school’s cause and the first place was given to Jersey Keith Pineda. The overall champion was the 4th year Excellence who also made a record of having the highest sale of tickets ever. The Highest performance scores were acquired by fourth year Endurance, grade 8 Goodness and fourth year Excellence, respectively. But to think of it the best performances are not those which got applauded the most but rather those who truly had fun performing and showing their God-given Talents while at the same time gave honor and praise to our almighty God. It was stated by many faculty members, students, and even parents that this has been the best concert we had for years. Truly MCA concert brings out the beat in us. It brought out leadership skills, team work and perseverance from each section. But more than the fund raising, lights, the performances and the awards, the most important thing that this concert had done to us was inculcating stronger faith in God and teaching us to dedicate and offer everything to Him.
